After every Tuesday, library day for Wyatt’s class, he comes home telling me about the new book they read and the movie that they watched about that book. I always wonder where they find these great videos, because he seems to love the concept of reading the book and then watching it come to life. If you too have wondered where these videos come from, I have found the answer, Scholastic Storybook Treasures DVD collection.

With environmental issues top of mind, this DVD, perfect for a new generation of eco-conscious kids ages 5 and up.
Here is some additional information about He’s Got The Whole World in His Hands: Sung in rich voices, the traditional American spiritual “He’s Got The Whole World in His Hands”, is the basis for the warm, musical lead story. A visually rich depiction of the diversity and beauty of the world, this adaptation brings to life a powerful song that has lifted the hearts and spirits of generations of people. Celebrating the connection between people and nature, families will be moved to sing along with the inspiring music and images.
This DVD also includes the additional stories of Jane Yolen’s “Owl Moon” about a magical, night-time walk through the snowy woods in search of the Great Horned Owl; “Come On, Rain!” an ode to a good, soaking rainstorm by Karen Hesse, narrated by Laila Ali, and the appreciative Thanksgiving address, “Giving Thanks: A Native American Good Morning Message”, written and narrated by Chief Jake Swamp. Scholastic was nice enough to send us a copy of this DVD to review. Wyatt and Blake both enjoyed He’s Got The Whole World in His Hands and Wyatt even sang along. My favorite story was “The Tale of the Mandarin Ducks” , which I had never seen before and was a very touching story. All the stories on this DVD help to educate kids on why it is important to protect the Earth and be aware of how to keep it clean.
He’s Got The Whole World in His Hands is available now for $14.95. It can be purchased online at newkideo.com and has a running time of 60 minutes.
