Review and Giveaway: Klutz Glossy Bands Book CLOSED

Thanks to being blessed with two boys, I have to save up all my girly energy for my nieces. This is when I look forward to doing things like playing beauty salon and dress-up. My nieces are always up for entertaining me and I love to do fun crafts with them, which is why I was excited to try out the new Klutz Glossy Bands Book this weekend.

Here is some information about Klutz from their site: Today, how-to books from Klutz come packaged with the tools of their trade (from juggling cubes to face paints to yo-yos), and are designed for doing, not just reading. “We think people learn best through their hands, nose, feet, mouth and ears. Then their eyes. So we design multi-sensory books,” Cassidy says. The appeal of this hands-on approach is borne out by sales figures; Klutz is a fixture on U.S. book and toy bestseller lists, and is available in 24 countries around the world. Having expanded the offerings to include Klutz Toys, Klutz Kits, Klutz Buckets, Klutz Guides and, in 2001, an educational product line. In 2002, Scholastic Inc., the largest children’s book publisher and distributor in the world, acquired Klutz. For those of you who collect corporate mission statements, here’s the Klutz credo: Create wonderful things, be good, have fun.

One of there newest book releases Klutz Glossy Bands Book is a fun way for girls to design their own accessories.  Glossy Bands start as a special, non-toxic, acrylic gel. To make one, simply squeeze out dots of color following one of the patterns in the book. Then use the swirling stick to mix the color into fancy designs. Once it’s dry, peel your bracelet up, wrap it around your wrist, and admire. Then, just stretch the bracelet to take it off. Beautiful, durable, completely wearable pieces of art.

Klutz was nice enough to send me a copy of their Klutz Glossy Bands Book to review.  My nieces and I had an awsome time making bracelets!  Claire, who is 8, could easily do the project by herself.  I was impressed to see how good the bracelets came out, since they actually looked like the pictures.  The girls wore the bracelets all day and then wanted to make new ones first thing the next morning.  The hardest part is waiting 24 hours for the bracelets to dry! Here is a picture of their designs:
