I don’t think that I have to tell you that it has been HOT!!! Yes, that is hot with a capital H, especially down here is New Orleans. When we are home on the weekends and the boys are out playing in the yard, I am always looking for ways to help they cool down and eat a healthy snack. I found a way to accomplish both with a recipe from Musselman’s.
I love the Musselman’s site, because they always have so many new recipes to try and they keep updating them each season! Since I was looking for a cool and healthy snack, I decided to try their recipe for a Creamy Peach Berry Smoothie, which can also be used to make ice pops. Here is the easy recipe, which is compliments of Amie Valpone from The Healthy Apple.
Creamy Peach Berry Smoothie/Ice Pops
Ingredients:
1 cup Musselman’s Natural Apple Sauce
2 cups peaches (I used frozen)
1/2 cup raspberries or strawberries
Juice of 1/2 a lime
1/2 cup of milk (I used 2%)
Preparation:
Puree ingredients in a blender for a refreshing smoothie. Add puree to ice pop molds for a frozen treat.
So, this was super easy to make and I had all the ingredients I needed at my house. I put it in the blender and this is what I got:
The smoothie came out really creamy and had a great fruity flavor. I loved the pop that the lime juice added and the kids thought that it was awesome! I did add a tablespoon of Splenda to my recipe to add just a little sweetness and put them in the freezer. The kids like eating them like a slushie!
