I love to bake, but do not always have the time to really do fun baking projects, such as cake pops. You know those cute little treats that are so yummy! I have made cake pops a couple of times before, but it was very labor intensive and my kitchen stayed really hot from the oven. Because of this, I am always hesitant to make these cute pops again, but thank to Babycakes I may be in the cake pop making business again!
Here is some information about the Baby Cakes Cake Pop Maker from their site: The Babycakes cake pop maker brings the fun and delicious cake pops trend into your own kitchen. Babycakes was nice enough to send me a cake popmaker for review. I found things that I liked and a few that I didn’t like about this product. I was happy to see that the instruction manual was easy to follow and included some basic recipes. I decided to make the vanilla cake pops and set to work. I used Pam to grease the pop maker and found that it just turned black, should maybe have used less. Next, I went to fill the maker with my batter. They suggest that you do this using a ziploc with the corner cut, and I will say NO!! This made a huge mess and overfilled the cups. I recommend buying a 1 tbsp scoop to use, this way you fill with the correct amount each time. The cooking time was fast and I was done with all three batches in about 30 minutes. I chose to frost my cake pops with a caramel frosting blended with chocolate chips. You can see all my pictures below.
The cake pops I made were cooked evenly throughout and the maker was easy to clean. Be careful when opening and closing the lid while cooking, because it does get really hot. They frosted easily and I was impressed how smooth the frosting dried. Please note that since these cake pops are not made with the frosting incorporated into the cake pop part itself, these are little drier and taste more like a cupcake. That being said, my kids still thought they were great.
My favorite features of the cake pop maker were that it was easy to use and did not over heat my kitchen. (I do live in Southern Louisiana!) I am also a huge fan of the decorating tray, which made clean up much easier. This appliance is an easy way to make cake pops without using up a bunch of time.
My complaints included that the pops do not all come out in a nice round shape and it is hard to get an exact amount into each cup. I also was not a fan of the fact that the bottom on the cake pop is always darker, but once iced this does not show. I think that once I use this appliance a few more times that it will be easier to use. I really want to try a cinnamon donut recipe they have!
Overall, this product is an okay buy for a price of only $24.99! The cake pop maker comes with the following accessories: Fork Tool, Cake Pop Treat Sticks, and Cake Pop Cooling and Decorating Stand.
In addition to the Cake Pop Maker, Babycakes also sells Cupcake Makers, Donut Makers, and Whoopie Pie Makers. I wrote this review while participating in a blog tour by Mom Central Consulting on behalf of Babycakes and received a Cake Pop Maker to facilitate my review and a gift code to thank me for taking the time to participate.

OMG this is awesome! I’m sure they don’t come out perfectly round like the other, hand-made versions, but they seem a lot easier and cleaner than that way, too. For $25, this is a definite must-try! :)
