I will openly admit that I hate decorating, mostly because I suck at it! I am not good at making decisions, and let’s face it, you have to make a lot of decisions when you decorate anything. But, like all things, when it comes to my kids, I do the things I fear most. This time I was tasked with decorating Blake’s room, which was definitely needed. Hubby and I started with thinking of all the things he likes, and decided to give him a Rock ‘n Roll themed room, because what else to you do for the five year old that has an electric guitar, and a drum set?!
We started with giving his room a fresh coat of paint, and let Blake help in the decision. He picked the perfect color, “Monorail Silver” from Sherwin-William. It is a silverish-grey, with just the right amount of sheen.
Next, hubby had the idea of doing a border of 45’s around the top of his room, which came out awesome! If you aren’t a record collector, like us, you should be able to find these at a local thrift shop for a good price. He hung them with thumb tacks.
The next item we found by pure luck! Hubby was shopping the clearance aisle at Wal-Mart and found wall art for under $20! It was the perfect addition.
Next, we decided Blake’s room needed to be personalized and ordered him an awesome drum decal, which even has his name!
While I am am no Martha Stewart, we had one happy boy, who loves to “rock out” in his new room! I think we spent less than $100 on everything, including paint, and all we have to do is find him the perfect bedding.
That turned out great, I bet he loves it!
That’s cute. I like the drum decal.
