I am a member of the Netflix Stream Team. All opinions stated are my own.
I know that the summer slide usually consists of kids watching too much TV and avoiding books, but at our house, we tend to mix things up a bit. Sometimes we will pick books for the kids, that we know have been made into a movie, and celebrate them finishing their book with a movie night. This way your kids can learn that things are often changed in the movies and will have fun pointing out all the differences to you.
I will never forget the first time Wyatt compared a book to a movie, since he had such a blast comparing and contrasting.
To help you try this fun activity with your kids, I have rounded up a list of titles available on Netflix:
- Holes
- Jumanji
- Charlotte’s Web
- The Mouse and the Motorcycle
- James and the Giant Peach
- The Parent Trap
- The Very Hungry Caterpillar
- Goosebumps
- Curious George
- Return to Nim’s Island
If your kids need a break from hitting the books this summer, you can always let them check out one of these cool documentaries:
- Lewis & Clark: The Journey Out West
- Walking with Dinosaurs
- Secret Yellowstone
- The Blue Planet
- When We Left Earth: The NASA Missions
My kids really enjoyed the Walking with Dinosaurs Series!
What kids books would you like to see made into a movie?
