Celebrate National Zoo Keeper Week with Books from Peter Pauper Press!

Peter Pauper Press provided product to facilitate this review.  All opinions stated are my own.

One of our most favorite places to go is the zoo!  We are super lucky here in New Orleans that we have the fabulous Audubon Zoo close by to visit.  Not only to we visit the zoo often, the boys usually attend camp there in the summer and over holiday breaks, which they totally love.  Blake’s favorite animal to visit is the Elephants (or Trumpity as he calls them) and Wyatt’s loves the reptile house.  Since they love to visit the zoo, it is only natural, that they also love books about animals and the zoo.

Did you know that National Zoo Keeper Week is July 20th – July 26th?  To celebrate this, Peter Pauper Press sent my boys two fun zoo themed books to check out.

Zoo Books

The Zoo is Closed Today written by Evelyn Beilenson, illustrated by Anne Kennedy:  This book is a cute rhythmic story about why the zoo is closed and tells about all the animals ailments with adorable illustrations.  Blake and I took turns reading the pages and both really enjoyed the story.  This book has a hardcover and retails for $16.99.

At The Zoo Scratch & Sketch: An Art Activity Book for Animal Lovers by Lee Nemmers, illustrated by Martha Day Zschock-  This funTrace-Along art activity book immediately caught Wyatt’s attention.  He said that it was super cool, because as you scratched, the animals looked 3D.  Him and Blake both chose their favorite animals in the book and took turns.  This book allows budding artists (5 and up) to use the wooden drawing tool enclosed to trace the white outlines of favorite animals on black-coated scratch art pages.  This book includes a wooden stylus for drawing on black-coated paper to reveal glittering, gleaming colors beneath, wire-o-bound hardcover binding and 20 scratch off, 20 illustrated and 20 sketch pages. Retailing for $14.99, this book will provide kids with lots of fun!
