My daughter is 8 years old and saying she is ALL girl is about as big an understatement as you can make. I just wasn’t the kind of girl who liked bows, sparkles and fingernail polish…I really feel like I’m raising a little alien that I don’t know what to do with a lot of the time. But I try to find things that appeal to her girlishness and Floppets definitely hit the spot!
Here is some information about Floppets from their site: Floppets, by Zydeco Studios, are the homegrown brainstorm of Ilyse, a passionate reading teacher. Her vision is to create cool, fun, and affordable transmedia toys and novelties that are story driven. Floppets are a clever, cute and customizable collection of characters you can attach to anything! Wear them on your finger, back pack, flip flops, shoe laces, wrists, ankles or add them to your most personal accessories. Floppets allow you to demonstrate how clever you are by “wear” you attach them! You can collect, share, wear, and trade them with everyone!
The World of Floptopia is being built around the Floppet characters based on kids’ intrinsic interests. Upcoming accessories, web based character wikis, iPad apps, and an incredible word game called WORDPETS will all involve the Floppets that kids collect, play, and display.
Floppets was nice enough to send us some of their most popular designs to try. My daughter and her friends love collecting things, trading things, having things to attach to every item that they own and she quickly discovered that Floppets were a hot item on the collecting and trading circuit. This made her a very happy little girl! She discovered she could attach her Floppets to her flip flops, to her book bag, added them to her hair accessories and wore them as rings.
I’m sure that once school starts up again she and her friends will find many other uses for their cute little animal friends. Of course the Flopedia will also give them plenty of ideas, names and games to play with their new little friends. It’s always surprising to me, not being the girlie girl of the household, what she can come up with as an accessory…and how very much she enjoys every little new thing she comes upon.
So now I’ve been given a list of the Floppets that she needs before school starts so that she can have the entire collection to trade with her friends…and of course adorn every little thing she can find with them. Though I was never a girlie girl, I’m having a lot of fun raising one, and making great memories with my daughter!
To learn where you can find Floppets, visit their Where To Buy page. They can also be purchased online at amazon.com, where a set of 6 retails for $12.00.
