One of the hardest things to do as a mother, for me, is to ensure that I am teaching my kids healthy eating habits. I try to make sure that they eat balanced diets, along with a variety of fruits and vegetable. Thankfully, my kids make this job fairly easy. But, I am always on the look-out for new ways to make healthy eating a lifestyle in our home. If you struggle with this also, then check out this Eat Better America website, sponsored by General Mills.
Here is some information about the Eat Better America initiative from there site: Created and funded by Minneapolis-based General Mills, eatbetteramerica.com is designed for people who are increasingly interested in the impact food has on their health and crave simple, easy-to-understand health and nutritional information. But we know that too often, nutritional information can be confusing or a little difficult to follow. As one of the leading food companies in the world, we saw the need for a simple, straightforward website that makes eating better easier and more fun.
We have created a site where people can learn from experts, as well as folks just like them, about how healthy eating habits and easy-to-follow exercise tips can help enrich life. So, now, you’re not alone in this quest. In addition to our own experts at the Bell Institute of Health and Nutrition, we’ve brought in outside experts to provide a richer, more comprehensive, and more importantly, more entertaining site.
And because eatbetteramerica.com is about helping everyone in America eat better, we’ve designed our kitchens to reflect today’s cooking needs and lifestyles. We use the same healthy ingredients and state-of-the-art appliances and equipment to test thousands of recipes every year.
General Mills is proud to support many of the world’s most trusted and respected brands. Brands like Green Giant, Yoplait Yogurt, Cheerios, organics Cascadian Farm and Muir Glen. In addition, we offer a long list of products that are working every day to nourish your taste buds, your mind and your body.
Please join in and help us as we work to create a useful and fun place that enables you not only to enjoy what you eat, but feel even better about the food decisions you make.
Finally, it is one stop shopping for healthy eating tips, recipes and coupons! And, if you register on the Eat Better America site and share your pledge, you could WIN $1500.00!!!
Now that you have checked out all that Eat Better America has to offer, did you find a recipe that you would like to try? General Mills is offering one lucky reader a $25 Grocery Gift Card to help them take the first steps at a healthier lifestyle. For your chance to win, just follow the rules below.

THANK YOU TO CHICKEN SOUP FOR THE PET LOVER’S SOUL FOR SUPPLYING THIS GIVEAWAY ITEM.
I try to get my family to eat healthier by limiting the un-healthy foods that I buy. Thanks.
We have several fruit juices. We serve plenty of fruit and veggies.
Mainly by having healthy foods the only ones available!
We have planted a large vegetable garden and besides portion control are eating vegetarian at least one day per week.
I am buying and fixing alot more veggies and fruit dishes.
We are keeping a lot more fresh fruits and veggies readily available for snacking and trying not to buy the junk.
We have cut out almost all pasta….
I am hiding veggies that my family normally would not eatsquash, broccoli, cauliflower, peas) in foods! I’ll hide them in homemade soups & stews, pancakes (not the broccoli or peas), brownies, spaghetti, & other foods that I think I can get away with it!
Not buying the junk food that they want.
We’re eating more fresh fruits and veggies
We have a veggie garden and fruit orchard…doesnt get any healthier than that! Thanks for the opportunity
I have them read the labels when we shop
Eating more veggies. And whole grain pasta.
I am choosing whole grain products whenever possible and replacing our usual brands with them.
I always have fresh, bite size vegies and dip on hand. The children will choose this snack over any other…well, most of the time.
Thank you. :-)
It’s easier to get my family to eat healthier when we make it a group effort. So we all head to a local farmer’s market. choose produce and then cook together at home.
I am cooking healthier dinners and stocking our refrigerator with healthier snack options.

I taught my little ones about the nutritional label and what the things mean and should be. They are really interested and act like it is a game to get the right amount!
