One of the hardest things to do as a mother, for me, is to ensure that I am teaching my kids healthy eating habits. I try to make sure that they eat balanced diets, along with a variety of fruits and vegetable. Thankfully, my kids make this job fairly easy. But, I am always on the look-out for new ways to make healthy eating a lifestyle in our home. If you struggle with this also, then check out this Eat Better America website, sponsored by General Mills.
Here is some information about the Eat Better America initiative from there site: Created and funded by Minneapolis-based General Mills, eatbetteramerica.com is designed for people who are increasingly interested in the impact food has on their health and crave simple, easy-to-understand health and nutritional information. But we know that too often, nutritional information can be confusing or a little difficult to follow. As one of the leading food companies in the world, we saw the need for a simple, straightforward website that makes eating better easier and more fun.
We have created a site where people can learn from experts, as well as folks just like them, about how healthy eating habits and easy-to-follow exercise tips can help enrich life. So, now, you’re not alone in this quest. In addition to our own experts at the Bell Institute of Health and Nutrition, we’ve brought in outside experts to provide a richer, more comprehensive, and more importantly, more entertaining site.
And because eatbetteramerica.com is about helping everyone in America eat better, we’ve designed our kitchens to reflect today’s cooking needs and lifestyles. We use the same healthy ingredients and state-of-the-art appliances and equipment to test thousands of recipes every year.
General Mills is proud to support many of the world’s most trusted and respected brands. Brands like Green Giant, Yoplait Yogurt, Cheerios, organics Cascadian Farm and Muir Glen. In addition, we offer a long list of products that are working every day to nourish your taste buds, your mind and your body.
Please join in and help us as we work to create a useful and fun place that enables you not only to enjoy what you eat, but feel even better about the food decisions you make.
Finally, it is one stop shopping for healthy eating tips, recipes and coupons! And, if you register on the Eat Better America site and share your pledge, you could WIN $1500.00!!!
Now that you have checked out all that Eat Better America has to offer, did you find a recipe that you would like to try? General Mills is offering one lucky reader a $25 Grocery Gift Card to help them take the first steps at a healthier lifestyle. For your chance to win, just follow the rules below.

We have started trying to eat more organically.
I keep extra fruits on hand and we are working more vegetables into our daily diet – trying to add more beans and cut down on fatty meats
I am bringing more vegetables and whole grains home when I shop.
More home cooking has helped us eat healthier. The downturn in the economy has had a benefit for our family – both in our pocketbook and our bodies. Our daughter loves to look up recipes on the internet and try them out for all of us!
We keep fresh salad in the house as a more tempting snack.
using only whole grains
