Green Works Hosts A Walk To School Challenge

I remember when I was in grade school, I thought it was so cool when I was old enough to walk to school with my friends. We felt so grown up and it was great that we were able to burn a little energy before our school day started. Unfortunately, we live too far from my boys’ school for me to walk them in the morning, but I wish we could.

For all those parents that are able to walk you kids to school, and choose to do so, Green Works would like to celebrate you!  And, at the same time, they are trying to inspire more parents to walk their kids to school.  They are doing this by hosting a “Walk To School Challenge”, where you can win a $5000 green grant for your kid’s school.

To enter this challenge, you must first start walking your kids to school and once you have clocked 100 steps, visit Green Works Facebook Page and let them know.  Once you are entered, you can compete with other schools to win a green grant.

Walking your kids to school gives you extra time with them to learn about their day and lets them work in a little exercise.  I know my son is learning all about being less wasteful and I think this is a great way to teach your kids about being eco-friendly, while trying to help their school.

For more information about the Green Works Walk to School Challenge, just visit their Facebook Page.
