As everyone knows, October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and this is a cause that is close to my heart. My cousin is a breast cancer survivor and I know how important it is to raise awareness. When I was asked to review an item from Holly Yashi’s Limited Edition Breast Cancer Awareness Jewelry Line, I knew it would be a great way to show others my support for this cause.
Here is some information about Holly Yashi from their site: Holly Hosterman and Paul “Yashi” Lubitz have been creating Holly Yashi jewelry for 30 years. Their jewelry is made from a dull gray metal called niobium. The niobium “is dipped into an electrically-charged water bath which turns the metal into hues of rich, permanent color.” The result is a look that has become their signature style.
Holly Yashi was nice enough to send me a piece from her limited edition breast cancer awareness jewelry line, specifically the necklace. The pendant is the famous breast cancer awareness ribbon and it is light weight and comfortable to wear. I really like the pretty floral design on the niobium, but must admit I was disappointed in the color. I was expecting the cotton candy pink as in the photos on the Holly Yashi web site but instead it hardly has any color at all.
The Breast Cancer Special Edition Necklace pictured here retails for $38 and comes on an adjustable: 18-20″ long necklace. You can also purchase matching earrings and pin. All purchases from this special collection supports women’s health, because a $5 donation is given for each piece sold to the Dr. Susan Love Research Foundation. You can purchase these pieces and over 1,000 more styles at Holly Yashi.com.
