Did you know that 1 in 8 people in Louisiana is struggling with hunger? That number is just horrifying to me, which is why I am honored to partner with Second Harvest Food Bank of Greater New Orleans to help fight hunger. Since September is Hunger Action Month, a national movement to raise awareness and take action to fight hunger in America, I thought I would share with you 30 Ways in 30 Days that each person can help Second Harvest Food Bank!
HERE ARE THE WAYS YOU CAN PARTICIPATE IN HUNGER ACTION MONTH:
• “Like” the Power to Care Facebook page to help spread the message about the Power to Fight Hunger campaign.
• Download the Power to Fight Hunger 30 Ways in 30 Days calendar for daily ways that you and your family can take action. The Power to Fight Hunger 30 Ways in 30 Days calendar outlines doable ways individuals and families can join the fight against hunger.
• Attend Harvest the Music. The eight week concert series will take place each Wednesday from September 14- November 2 from 5-7:30PM in Lafayette Square. All proceeds from the series will help fight hunger. Visit www.harvestthemusic.org for the full line up and details.
• Pick up a Power to #Fight Hunger yard sign to display at your home or office from Harvest the Music (Wednesdays September 14 – November 2 at Lafayette Square beginning at 5pm) or the Second Harvest Food Bank warehouse located at 700 Edwards Avenue, New Orleans LA 70123 (Monday – Friday, 8am until 4pm).
Throughout the month of September follow the hashtag #fighthunger to hear how members of our community are
taking action and to hear about other ways you can help Second Harvest Food Bank. For more information on the
Power to Fight Hunger campaign visit www.no-hunger.org.
Please help those in your community that are less fortunate than you and try to donate to your local food banks. If you live in the New Orleans area, come hang out with me at Lafayette Square and enjoy some great local music!
