As a parent, nothing gets to me more, than hearing about kids who don’t have enough to eat. That is why I wanted to share with you all an easy way that you, thanks to the help of Jimmy Dean, can help those kids in need. This is all possible, because Jimmy Dean is a long-term partner of Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry Campaign, working to end childhood hunger in America by 2015!

Recently, Jimmy Dean launched their brand new No Kid Hungry tab on the Jimmy Dean Facebook page! If you visit this page and take the No Kid Hungry pledge, you can keep up with all the work Jimmy Dean is doing to help end childhood hunger in America by 2015. Pledge taking is free and only takes a minute, and with your support, we can help make ending childhood hunger in America a reality! Once you take the Pledge and you’ll find out about tangible actions you can take to connect kids in need with nutritious food every day!

Here is some information about No Kid Hungry:
• More than 17 million children in America are at risk for hunger. That’s nearly 1 in 41
• 50.1 million Americans, including 17.2 million children, lack the means to regularly put enough nutritious food on the table2
• 20 million children are eligible for a free or reduced price school breakfast, yet only 9.4 million children received the benefits in the 2009-2010 school year3
• 40% of K-8 teachers say that children coming to school hungry because they have not had enough to eat at home is a serious problem at their school4

To me those numbers are eye opening!! I am blessed that I have never had to worry about not having enough food to feed my kids and can’t imagine how those parents feel. This is why I am urging all of you to go and take the pledge on Jimmy Dean’s facebook page.
