DH and I were out running errands today, when we drove by Joe’s Crab Shack. We hadn’t been there quite a while, and were close to starving, so we popped in for lunch. What a pleasant surprise to find that Joe’s had joined forces with Autism Speaks! We are big supporters of autism research and programs. We have blue lights bulbs on front porch for the month of April (“Light It Up Blue” awareness month) and participate in whatever events and fundraisers roll around throughout the year.
Joe’s Crab Shack joined organizations across the globe in celebration of World Autism Day on April 2 and kicks off its own national fundraiser for Autism Speaks, the world’s leading autism science and advocacy organization. This year, all 130+ Joe’s locations will get involved in fundraising for the cause. Through the month of April, guests who donate to Autism Speaks receive valuable coupons for free food on their next visit. For every $1 donation, guests receive a free kids meal entree; with a $5 donation, a free order of Crazy Good Crab Dip; and with a $10 donation, a free Classic Steampot.
Guests can also visit the Joe’s Crab Shack website to donate electronically and download their coupons, or like we did, make a donation right on the spot. Our server told us that the coupons are good May 1-June 15. We donated $10 and got a coupon for a free Classic Steampot ($22.99 value). It’s hard to pass up feeding the kids for just $1, too!
Joe’s restaurants around the country will “Light It Up Blue” in honor of World Autism Day, joined by prominent buildings such as the Empire State Building, Leaning Tower of Pisa and the Sydney Opera House. Hundreds of individual homes and businesses across the world will also participate.
Guests can also Light It Up Blue with specially made Joe’s signature tie-dye T-shirts available for sale in the restaurant’s gift shops. Joe’s will donate 10% of proceeds of all t-shirt sales to Autism Speaks.
Hope you’ll choose Joe’s for dinner this month and consider making a donation to Autism Speaks.
