Like most kids last Christmas, my oldest son, Wyatt, was obsessed with Zhu Zhu Pets. I must admit, I also thought they were pretty cute! We were lucky enough to secure Pip Squeak and a house for him in time for the holiday and he was thrilled. What we weren’t expecting was how entertained my 1 year old would be by the hamster. Both kids had fun playing with the hamster, but Wyatt was getting a little bored with his pet, until now!
Zhu Zhu Pets have unleashed a whole line of pets geared for boys!! The Kung Zhu line includes eight new hamsters, which make up four different teams, and they all can be outfitted with armor and special vehicles. The Kung Zhu also have training facilities and a fighting arena, where they go for battle!
Here is some information about the Kung Zhu line from their site: These warrior hamsters are far from being the cute and cuddly Zhu Zhu Pets that everyone fell in love with. But make no mistake, these ultra cool, tough pets will be a sure competition to the original Zhu Zhu Pets! With eight original characters split into two battling groups called Special Forces and Ninja Warriors, Kung Zhu Pet owners will have the thrill of training each character to transform fighting, battling warriors. While these Kung Zhu hamsters may start of as “cute” and “mild-mannered” once they are sent into their main training grounds, smart chip technology will actually allow you to hear a distinct personality transformation of fighting ninja and warriors. Once transformed, you can arrange ultimate battles between your Special Forces and Ninja Warriors Kung Zhu Pets! The Special Forces Kung Zhu army includes Stonewall, Seargent Serge, Rock’O and Rivet. These tough hamsters will evolve into Special Force Warriors after training in either the Alpha or Bravo training grounds with different weapons, armors and defense technology. In the meantime, your Ninja Warriors including Yama,Azer, Drayko and Thorn, will transform into rough fighters after training in their Samaurai and Ninja grounds using their own weapons and armors. Each of these Ninjas has a hieroglyph or Dragon symbol on its bright and colorful fur while the Special forces have either a star or comet army sign. Collect them all for your very own Kung Zhu Battle!”
Thanks to Cepia and Mom Select, I was lucky enough to be able to host a Kung Zhu party for my son and his friends. Wyatt and Blake were mesmerized by the box full of Kung Zhu items when it arrived. I had to promise them that they were going to be able to play with them very soon. We picked the date and invited the guests, which were all quite excited to attend. Here are some pics from the party.
As you can see, they had a blast! After the “Big Battle” in the arena, the kids were hungry enough to snack on some yummy Kung Zhu Brownies that Wyatt helped me decorate. Here is a picture of them.
After the kids were happy on their sugar rush, we played Hot Grenade, using a Kung Zhu as our grenade. The winner got to take home the Kung Zhu of their choice. Here is a video of the kids playing:
Our party was a huge success and the kids loved that they each left with their very own hamster and armor!
Kung Zhu Pets and accessories are available now at Toys R Us and Walmart.
