When most people think of New Orleans, family friendly might not be one of the first 10 things that comes to mind. But, as a local, I know differently. One of our favorite kid perfect hangouts is the Louisiana Children’s Museum! The Museum is a great place for kids to learn while they play, and that is specifically what their New Talk and Play Center is aimed to do!
Here are some of my favorite pictures that I took the night we got to preview this new exhibit. You can see how much fun the boys were having!
I think the boys’ favorite parts were the tunnel and the puppets, but they did go back to each section more than once, so it was hard to tell. The flashlights they provide for the tunnel excursion were a big draw for Blake and I had to remind him that it could not come home with us. The boys were entertained for over an hour and complained when it was time to leave. I guess I will have to bring them back real soon.
The Talk and Play Center is designed for kids ages birth-8 and is located on the second floor of the museum. This area incorporates the four key building blocks for language development, which include vocabulary, storytelling, phonetics and deciphering. The space was designed by local cardboard artist Jacques Duffour and replicates scenes from the children’s book, The Cajun Little Red Riding Hood.
The Louisana Childrens Museum is located at 420 Julia Street in New Orleans and general admission for adults and kids over one is $8.00. This is the perfect place to spend those hot summer days! For more information about the LCM and their upcoming events, be sure to follow them on Facebook.
DISCLOSURE: THE LCM PROVIDED MY FAMILY WITH PASSES TO CHECK OUT THE NEW EXHIBIT. ALL OPINIONS STATED ARE MY OWN.
