One of my pleasures as a mother is baking for my kids. I like when the come in the kitchen and help me prepare a yummy treat and then watch it bake in the oven. But, as always when doing activities with the kids, the less steps involved the better. So when I was asked to try a few new recipes for Lucky Leaf and Musselman’s, I was game.
I was sent recipes for Musselman’s Honey Mustard Ham Glaze, Musselman’s Maple Citrus Ham Glaze, and a Lucky Leaf Cherry Pineapple Surprise. Since I really don’t care for ham, I decided to make the Cherry Pineapple Surprise, although the Maple Citrus Glaze sounded really good!
The Cherry Pineapple Surprise recipe only consists of five ingredients, which you basically layer in a baking dish and cook for an hour. I substituted pecans for the macadamia nuts, since I had some on hand. Here is what my cake looked like when I pulled it out of the oven.
Once out of the oven, I served it with vanilla ice cream and we dug in!
This desert was a nice combination of sweet and tart. The cake mix was offset by the cherries and the pineapple added sweetness. My family enjoyed this desert and it would be an easy dish to bring to a pot luck dinner. The most expensive ingredient is the macadamia nuts, so get them on sale and you have a tasty treat for a great price!
