Let’s face it, one of our biggest concerns as parents, is our kids’ diets. I am always worried if they are consuming too much sugar or processed foods and want them to know that choosing a healthy lifestyle doesn’t mean you can’t have good foods. We can all control what our kids eat at home, but how can we make a difference at school? This is where Lunch Break for Kids comes into the picture.
What is Lunch Break for Kids you might ask? It is a national fundraiser that highlights ways for parents and kids to come together with chefs and schools to learn more about how simple, good food can make healthier bodies and stronger family connections. This year, Lunch Break for Kids has partnered with the makers of Hidden Valley Original Ranch, to show kids that eating healthy can also be delicious.
Now I have been blessed with healthy eaters that also are open to trying new foods, but they get stuck in the snack rut. They tend to always ask for fruit snacks or cookies when they get home. I decided to offer them a new option that I concocted, Carrot Ranch Wheels. They were a huge hit and I liked knowing that they were going to stay fuller for longer.
We find that eating dinner together as a family is a great way to keep open the lines of communication in our house. Every night we gather around our meal, which usually consists on at least one vegetable and one fruit and share our experiences from the day. The boys are more open to eating healthy if we all have the same meal on our plates.
How do you work healthy eating habits into your kids’ day? If you can use a little help in this task, be sure to visit Lunch Break for Kids, where you can learn more about this program and how you can get involved.
Want to bring this initiative to your neighborhood? Sign up to host a fundraiser during the week of Oct. 15–19. Pledge a day or a week. Then donate 10 percent from your healthy, delicious lunch net sales to the Chef & Child Foundation. Funds donated will go to support the creation of nutrition-based education materials, community outreach projects and grants. Learn more by visiting the Lunch Break for Kids Official Site.
The Hidden Valley® Original Ranch®, dressings & dips has provided me with free product to help with my review, but anything I receive from Hidden Valley does not affect my thoughts on its company or their product.

I’m always looking for new snack ideas for my kids – we get stuck in a rut, too! We’re big fans of Hidden Valley Ranch, so I’ll have to try your cute Carrot Ranch Wheels and see if they’re a hit!

So creative! I wish my kids would eat that, but with the ranch maybe they would!
