I do a lot of food packing each day, between both boys and myself. I pack lunch for Blake, snack for Wyatt, and breakfast, lunch and snack for myself, which makes for a lot of sandwich bags. I use tupperware as much as possible, but it is not always a feasible option. So, when I was asked to try out a reusable sandwich bag called Lunchskins, I was really intrigued!
Here is some information about Lunchskins from their site: While sitting around a kitchen table in 2008, we heard a staggering statistic – every day, more than 20 million sandwich bags from school lunches go into landfills in the US. We knew that many families were looking for easy, convenient ways to be green and avoid this kind of waste. So we put our passion and energy together and 3greenmoms was born. Our mission:to design a colorful, fresh alternative to the plastic baggie. Whether you care about our environment, saving money, eating healthy, or looking stylish, LunchSkins are the answer to your plastic baggie blues — they offer an environmental benefit (reduce landfill waste), a practical benefit (they can be used hundreds of times and save you money over the long run), and a healthy choice (food tastes better in a pastry bag). LunchSkins are made from a thick cotton fabric that is coated with a food-safe polyurethane liner. Additionally, LunchSkins are grease-proof and moisture proof making them ideal for messy sandwiches and snacks.
Lunchskins was nice enough to send my family a multipack featuring one coordinating snack and sandwich bag to try out. The first thing that caught my eye were the bright colors and prints, which was green frogs! I know that my boys will have fun pulling this out of their lunchbox, which is a plus. Next, was the dishwasher trial, which was passed with flying colors! I run my dishwasher on high heat and the Lunchskins looked brand new after a dishwasher cycle. These bags seal well with heavy duty velcro to prevent spillage and are a perfect size. If these bags last as long as they look like they will, I will be one happy and green mama! I am going to be heading to Target soon for another pack, because the boys are already fighting over who gets the frog bag!LOL
Lunchskins are available in three sizes: snack ($7.85), sandwich ($8.95) and sub ($10.95). The multi-pack, which includes a snack and sandwich bag, retails for $10.99 and comes in three patterns Red Ladybug, Navy Dogs and Green Frogs. Lunchskins are available for purchase online at Lunchskins.com or at nearly 300 Target stores nationwide!
