Having a new child is a journey that takes an amazing amount of time and an amazing amount of effort. It is an endeavor that lasts the rest of your life. In this article, we are going to discuss some furniture that I consider essential, furniture that you should start researching now. It is always better to be well prepared.
A crib is the most obvious purchase that you are going to need to make. The crib is a surprisingly short lived sleep arrangement though. It won’t be long until you need a real bed. I suggest buying a set of bunk beds before you ever buy the more standard twin bed. Buying bunk beds from the start allows you to have sleep overs with less hassle. It will also become very useful if you decide to have a second child.
Every new mother should have a baby changing station in their home. If possible it should be in the bathroom, but we will get more into that later. This will help to keep all of your diaper supplies in order and on hand. Most baby changing stations also double as storage space for all of those powders, diapers and ointments. Keeping the business of changing your baby’s diapers relegated to one area will be far more sanitary than changing them on whatever flat surface is available. You will want to look for a baby changing station which has raised sides so your baby can’t roll off the edge much in the same way that the top bunk of a set of bunk beds will usually have a railing. You should also keep the baby changing station as close to a sink in which you can wash your hands as possible. The less you have to touch between baby and bathroom, the better.
