Wyatt loves to play games, but finding ones that educate him while keeping him interested is difficult. I like to see him try new things and challenge himself, because I feel that this is the best way for him to grow. This is why I was really excited to find Guidecraft and their selection of toys and manipulatives, especially their Feel and Find Game.
Here is some information about Guidecraft from their site: Started in 1964 in a small woodshop, producing 10 items. We have continued to develop the line, which now includes over 580 educational toys and furnishings. Our size has changed, but our mission remains the same; stay true to the tradition of smart, beautifully crafted wood products, which allow children’s minds and imaginations room to truly wonder and grow. As we turn 46, we see that our best contributions lie in this commitment to continue doing what we do best, while always giving our loyal customers what they have come to expect; expert quality, excellent service and an ever growing collection of creativity inspiring products for children. Our playful furniture is a wonderful new extension of our line and we are delighted to present it to you.
Guidecraft was nice enough to send me their Feel and Find Game for review. It arrived well packaged in a cute colorful box, which immediately peeked Wyatt’s interest. We then opened the box to find the game ready to play and here is a picture of what we found.
We then quickly divided up the tiles, droped the shapes in the bag and started to play. His first few turns, Wyatt would quickly grab a shape and pull it out, only to realize it was not the right one. After watching me a few times, he learned to take his time and find what he was looking for. He really started to learn how to feel for a specific shape, which was cool. His favorite shape/tile was the man, which he was convinced was a “space person”. Here is a picture of him concentrating on the shapes.
Guidecraft’s Feel and Find game contains 20 matching wooden shapes and printed tiles in a reusable, durable cloth bag. Deal out the tiles and have children reach into the bag to Feel & Find the corresponding wooden shape. Play alone or in larger groups. A great visual and tactile exercise.
This game is a great learning tool for children ages 3 and up and retails for $25.00, which is a great price for an all wood product. Feel and Find can be purchased online from Guidecraft.
