Hubby was very excited when AVATAR was released in the theaters. He went to see it in 3D on the IMAX screen and then came home talking about how he couldn’t wait to see it again when it came out on DVD. Well his wait is over! AVATAR was released on April 22nd, in conjunction with Earth Day, on Blue-Ray and DVD.
Here is some information about the movie: Since its global theatrical release last December, AVATAR has continued to make motion picture history. Written by James Cameron and produced with his long-time collaborator Jon Landau, AVATAR stars Sam Worthington, Zoë Saldana, Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, Michelle Rodriguez, Giovanni Ribisi, Joel David Moore, CCH Pounder, Wes Studi and Laz Alonso. The Oscar and Golden Globe winning epic is the highest grossing film of all time, taking in over $2.6 billion in worldwide box office. Director James Cameron takes audiences to a spectacular world beyond imagination, where a reluctant hero embarks on a journey of redemption and discovery as he leads a heroic battle to save a civilization. AVATAR delivers a fully immersive cinematic experience of a new kind, where the revolutionary technology invented to make the film disappears into the emotion of the characters and the epic nature of the story.
Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment was nice enough to send my family a copy for review. Hubby and I had ourselves an adult “movie night”, since I feel that this movie is better suited for teens. I already knew that my husband loved the movie, but I was surprised by how much I enjoyed the DVD. It took me awhile to figure out what was happening, but once I did, I was hooked. It is a great way to be reminded that we need to respect the Earth and all her creatures.
To help celebrate the release of AVATAR and Earth Day, Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment has teamed up with the Earth Day Network to plant 1,000,000 trees worldwide. People who purchase the film will be given a unique access code that allows them to go online and actually adopt one of the million trees being planted, charting its location and progress.
AVATAR has a running time of 162 minutes and is rated PG-13. It is available in both Blue-Ray and Single Disc options. You can purchase AVATAR online at Amazon.com and it retails for $29.98 (single disc) or $39.99 (Blue-Ray).
PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS REVIEW IS MY OPINION. THANK YOU TO TWENTIETH CENTURY FOX HOME ENTERTAINMENT FOR SUPPLYING THIS PRODUCT FOR REVIEW.
