Review: Casio Exilim S5 Camera

An easy to use point and shoot camera is a must for every parent, since you never know when your kid is going to do something priceless.  I went on search for an upgrade, since mine was about 5 years old and on the large side.  When I asked my photographer what she recommended, she said that she purchased a Casio for her “on the go” camera.

I didn’t know much about Casio cameras, so I decided to check them out, and was suprised to find out that they have been a pioneer in digital cameras for over 10 years.  Their camera line, Exilim, has three main varieties, which are high speed, zoom, and card.  Each Exilim variety has multiple camera options available, and they have great colors to choose from.  I am always more drawn to an item if I have color choices.

Casio was nice enough to send me a camera to review.  I received the Exilim Card S5, which is newly released and was designed to make high quality photographing easier.  This camera has a compact frame, is 10.1 megapixels and has a 3X optical zoom.  The viewing screen is 2.7 inches, which is super easy to see.  It also offers widescreen movie recording and You Tube Capture Mode, which records and saves movies at the ideal settings for uploading. casio exilimI have been super impressed by this camera.  I love that it fits in my pocket, which means I can easily tote it around.  I am still learning all the features, but have been able to easily use the camera and upload my photos.  The S5 that I received is in the blue, like pictured above, and it is so pretty.  Here is a fun shot that I got of Blake at a Halloween party last week, when he was digging in the ice bucket.

This camera takes high quality pictures with ease, and even with cropping the photo is still extremely sharp.  My husband has played with camera and was also impressed.  He loves the large display screen and the long battery life.  I have only had to charge the battery once in the last month, and have used the camera multiple times each week.

I would recommend this as a great buy for any age, from teenager to grandparents.  The S5 is available in five colors, blue, black, pink, silver, and purple and has an MSRP of $149.99 and can be purchased at My Casio.

If someone on your holiday list asking for a new camera, be sure to check out all the available models that Casio has to offer.  I loved this camera so much, that I listed it on the Double Duty Diva Holiday Gift Guide.
