Review: Triscuit Teams Up With Urban Farming

One of my favorite snacks has always been cheese and crackers, especially Triscuits.  Something about the salt and crunch that just make them so yummy and the fact that they contain 24g of whole grains per serving, just makes eating them even better.  Triscuits are all about simple goodness and now they are teaming up with Urban Farming to help spread the word about home farming.

Here is some information about the initiative:  Triscuit has created a site (click here) with help from Urban Farming, a non-profit organization, to help build a home farming community where both beginners and more seasoned gardeners can dialogue and gather information towards their common mission: to reap food that is deliciously fresh, penny-wise, healthier for themselves and the planet. It’s about home farming, and the everyday joy that grows out of it. So join us and let’s get farming!

To help you get started, 4 Million Triscuit boxes will contain plantable herb seed cards.  This is a great way for you and your kids to see how easy it can be to grow your own herbs.  And, if you don’t have a yard, just use pots.  If you are not sure of how to plant and take care of your seeds, just click here, and Triscuit will tell you how!  Here is a picture of the box with the seeds on the back.

Triscuit was nice enough to send us one of their special boxes to try.  I was so excited to see that we had Basil seeds to plant.  Wyatt and I had a great time planting them and can’t wait to see our plants start to grow.  Hopefully we can keep Blake from trying to dig in that pot. LOL  Here is a picture of Wyatt watering his seeds.

I have to admit that I am scared of gardening, but this experience made it all seem so simple that I am hopeful of our outcome.  If I can plant my seeds, than anyone can.  So, go grab a box of Triscuits, for a yummy snack, and then head on out and plant those seeds!
