Wyatt started 2nd grade this year and even though he has less homework than last year, it is still plenty of material. The hardest part for me is helping him study for english and math tests, since I find it is easier to have him to a worksheet to show me that he fully understands the material. I am not a teacher, so finding these sheets can prove to be a challenge. The best way that I have found to study with him is to buy a workbook for his grade level and use the sections as we need them. Shell Education is a great resource for these workbooks and their new Bright & Brainy series focuses on Math and Language Arts, which is just what we need.

Shell Education was nice enough to send me over a couple of their Brainy & Bright Workbooks to review. I liked that the workbooks came with instructions on how to effectively use the workbook and also a resource CD. The boys were both excited to get their own workbook and Blake feels special having homework to do with Wyatt. My only complaint is that the sheets in the book are not perforated and take a little work to get out. I prefer to take a sheet out and hand it to them, because if not they tend to get distracted looking through the rest of the book. Overall, the content was good and the books are well written. This will definitely make studying for Math and English so much easier!
Bright & Brainy workbooks retail for $19.99 and can be purchased online at the Shell Education Store. To learn more about Shell Education, be sure to Follow them on Twitter and Like them on Facebook.
DISCLOSURE: Shell Education sent me their workbooks free of charge to review. All opinions stated are my own.

These would be perfect during the summer months when they start to get bored and miss school. It is nice way as parent to know what level the kids really are on.. I like the CD that is available with the books.
