Mother’s Day weekend was spent enjoying the magic which is Disney! My family are huge Disney fans and we go as often as we can, but we hadn’t experienced Disney’s Social Media Moms Conference since 2009. As you can imagine, I did a lot of happy dancing when that invite showed up, especially since I got to experience sleeping in Cinderella’s Castle last time!
So, we packed up our family of four and headed for a long weekend at our favorite place. We were welcomed into Disney’s Beach Club, where we had never stayed and began our fun. After a fun day in the park on Thursday, we were treated to an African inspired meal at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. After dinner, we took a walk over for a special ride of Expedition Everest in the dark, which you can start to experience this summer! We also got a sneak peek of the Tree of Life being lit up! This summer the newest night time show, Rivers of Light, will begin at Animal Kingdom and I seriously want to head back just to check it out!
The next day started out with breakfast at Hollywood Studios and a look at the new Star Wars Launch Bay! My boys were slightly jealous that I got to do this without them. I had my first encounter with Kylo Ren, who scared me more than I would like to admit. And, then I got to trade with the Jawas. Be sure you have something to give them, because it is super fun and they don’t take money, but a unused tissue seemed to be acceptable.
Then it was onto sessions, where I learned all about what is coming up at Disney! Here are a few things we got to see:
- The first 33 minutes of Finding Dory, which was just not enough, and I can’t wait to learn the rest of her story!
- A look into the upcoming River of Lights show, which includes lanterns on the lake, the Tree really coming to life and Spirit Animals.
- Behind the scenes look into Alice through the Looking Glass, which I got to see the next day.
- A fun performance from the Hocus Pocus live show, which will be at Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party again this year!
- Lots of info about the Dream Big Princess initiative, which is super inspiring, even for this grown up princess!
Seriously, so much information and so little time!
The next morning, Wyatt and I got up and did the fun run at 5:30AM! It was super early, but being able to watch the sunrise over Epcot is something truly special. After a quick clean up, the whole family got to preview Alice through the Looking Glass. I really enjoyed the show and so did the boys! I loved the theme about time and making the most of what you have.
It was great to see old friends and make new ones, which is one of the things I love most about blogging! It also warmed my heart to see my little man come out of his shell and make friends, which was a new thing for him.
The fact that this all happened over Mother’s Day weekend gave me the excuse to come home with a few extra goodies for myself, including three new Alex and Ani Disney bracelets and a Dooney and Bourke Haunted Mansion purse!
I can’t thank the Disney Team and their sponsors Hanes, GoGo Squeez, American Tourister, Alamo and more enough for this experience.
