Review and Giveaway: Exergen CLOSED

I was looking for a new thermometer, when I came across the Exergen Temporal Scanner. I had the ear one and was having trouble using it on my 7 month old. I never felt like it was positioned correctly and was constantly doubting its accuracy.
I started to research different options and what I discovered was Exergen. Their Temporal Scanner is an infrared thermometer that measures body temperature by taking a reading from the temporal artery. This thermometer is not only a more accurate way to measure, but it is also the least invasive.

Here is a short video of me taking my 4 year old’s temperature.

See how easy it was. It did take a little practice to make sure that I was positioned correctly and scanning at the right speed. It was quicker than my old ear thermometer and I could even check his temperature now when he is sleeping.

Last time I went to the pediatrician’s office, I noticed that they had switched to using these, so I feel that this is the best option available.

I know it sounds to good to be true, but I can definitely say this thermometer has it all. The Temporal Scanner is available at Babies R Us, Toys R Us, Walgreens, Costco, and Baby.com.

  1. Either I am first, or someone else is in the process of moderation, but here goes–my favorite aspect of the Exergen is that it is so totally non-invasive that you can take the temperature of a sleeping baby without disturbing the child.

  2. I love the feature that makes this non-ivasive to my child. I have a daughter that has seizures with high fever, so I must take her temperature often when she is sick. It gets difficult when she gets so tired of the temperature taking process over and over. This would be a blessing. I like that so many medical professionals use these. Way better than the old method used on my first baby. Thanks, Stefanie Hartman [email protected]

  3. my favorite feature is that it can be as short as 10-20 second to take a temperature! That’s a big difference from my current thermometer that’s 1-2 minutes.

  4. I found out the temporalScanner Thermometer is designed to measure the temperature of the skin surface over the temporal artery, a major artery of the head.

  5. My Favorite feature of the Exergen Temporal Scanner is The TemporalScanner Thermometer has been clinically tested for accuracy compared to rectal thermometers and temperature sensors inserted in the heart during course of patient treatment and accepted for use in major hospitals, making it the ideal thermometer for use with newborns, infants, children or adults.

I’m an R.N. This is IMPORTANT to me!!!
Great Giveaway! Thanks for the Chance to win this GREAT Giveaway!!!

  6. I found in interesting that the Archives of Pediatric
and Adolescent Medicine found that the temporal artery
thermometer detected fevers more often than the popular
    tympanic thermometer.

  7. my favorite feature is how easy and accurate it is. As you gently stroke the thermometer across the forehead crossing over the temporal artery, the sensor in its probe performs two processes:

    First it scans like a video camera, capturing naturally emitted infrared heat from the arterial blood supply at about 1000 “frames” per second, locking in the highest temperature it senses and;
Second, at the same time, a patented system measures the ambient temperature of the site where the temperature is being taken. The patented “arterial heat balance” (AHB) software then synthesizes the two separate readings to accurately determine and display body temperature

guess I’m first. great luck on your giveaway

  8. I like that it’s non-invasive. Which means it would be more sanitary instead of having to clean a thermometer that has been in a mouth or. . . never mind.
